Ngotho Mwangi Wa Kahiga who claims to be the first man in Muranga County to drink mineral water is the current Station Voice Over-Artist (SVO) at Radio Africa's Gukena FM.

Kahiga, before moving to Gukena FM, worked in the same capacity at Royal Media's Inooro FM between years 2003 and 2012. He also doubled as the head of Inooro FM's creative department.

He also had a short stint at the now-defunct Bahasha FM which was owned by former Naivasha MP John Mututho.

For starters, duties of an SVO in a radio station include doing station imaging, voicing commercials, drops, news intros and outros, promos among other things.

The reason we compare Kahiga with Jeff Koinange is due to his deep voice that thunders the microphone as he goes about his voicing his works. Koinange is also a voice-over artist who does commercials alongside presenting news.

Kahiga as voiceover coach has mentored several upcoming voice-over artists where he insists that you do not have to possess a deep voice to make it in the widely-sought voice-over artist job.

"Some people think that a deep voice is the only quality that you need to make it as a successful voice-over artist. This is not true because you can have that kind of a voice and be a poor voice-over artist," says Kahiga.

He adds: "What you need to be a good voice-over artist is to know how to project your voice whenever you stand behind a microphone."

After leaving Inooro FM in 2012, it took the station over five years to completely replace Ngotho's voices with others.
