President Uhuru Kenyatta is now more of a helpless leader captured in the webs of his ambitious Deputy William Ruto.

The President is torn between working towards leaving his much-needed legacy and pleasing Ruto who contributed to almost 70 percent in his re-election.

With Ruto having embarked on beefing support for his 2022 presidential bid, though silently, Uhuru is obviously short of ideas on how to stop him, as this is eating into the time needed for development.

Ruto has the President cornered, as Uhuru cannot stop him and his people from campaigning since that will bring out the image of a man who is opposed to his assistant's bid to succeed him.

To some, it would mean that he is keen stop Ruto’s bid in advance, translating to possibilities of him having another person in mind for the post come 2022.

This would confirm the rumor that Central Kenya cannot support another person for the top seat and basing on their said agreement before their union in 2013, it would portray Uhuru as a traitor who cannot keep his promises.

Even if after that he manages to stop Ruto and gets the much needed time to finalize on his projects, the very same legacy will have already been stained and Ruto's side will have a very good weapon against him and the Mt. Kenya region in case of a break up.

Having already worsened it by welcoming opposition leader Raila Odinga into the equation through their March 9 truce, Uhuru has to handle the DP with care since Raila is a well known party breaker, who seems to have already embarked on shaking Jubilee.

Though Ruto's side is already weary of Odinga's presence in the combination, all the blame will land on the President should the former Premier somehow break the side, and will be accused of deliberately bringing him in to complicate Ruto's candidature.

To avoid the blame, Uhuru will have to play by Ruto's rules and simply watch him doing his thing and since he is already aware that the President's hands are tied, Ruto will keep campaigning and no one will stop him.
