Vera Sidika is a perfect example of someone who rose from nothing to something.
From her days as a video vixen who was known for nothing but her big assets to her present days as a well-decorated business lady flying from one country to another. She has been the epicentre of attention all throughout her socialite life.
What made her trend more for the past few months is her on and off relationship with Otile Brown.
The two have nevertheless used the controversy for positive gain as it has made most of Otile Brown’s songs trend. Probably this is the reason why Vera Sidika decided to release a diss track against Otile dubbed ‘Nalia’.
Most of the students at Moi University, however, don’t seem to side with the socialite. To them, the song was more of a whack.
“Singing is a talent which Vera does not have. The song has nothing interesting in it. Otile, on the other hand, has powerful vocals. In my opinion, the song is actually a big disappointment,” Kevin Kibaba, a student at Moi University and also a singer commented.
Brenda Waithera a third-year student at the Kesses-based university and also a pianist, on the other hand, believes Vera released the song for the sake of controversy.
“The song did not meet my expectations. I expected something better considering Otile’s songs to Vera have been big hits. She only did the song to gain popularity which is not a good thing. Honestly, it was a little bit embarrassing watching her sing,” Waithera noted.
Michelle Anyango, a second-year Linguistics, Media and Communications student at Moi University supports the lyrics but believes the song would have been better if it was another artist singing.
"Her song was a miss. The vocals were so messed up although the video quality was great and the lyrics were on point. If someone like Nandy would have been the one doing the vocals while Vera featured as a video vixen, the song would have been great," Anyango stated.
If attention is what Vera was looking for, then she has definitely gotten it. Will she release another song? Only time will tell.
