As Deputy President William Ruto’s allies armed themselves with speeches on the relation between their man and President Uhuru, word went round that the President would not turn up.

“The President was slated to arrive at 9: 00 am, but by 1:00 pm he had not arrived. Many started to suspect that he had boycotted the function altogether. There was tension, real tension,” an MP from the Rift Valley region said.

The six-hour delay in arrival by the head of state had left his deputy restless, an ally of the DP said.

However, it was a sigh moment for many leaders in the Rift Valley when the head of state handlers finally said he was on his way he left St Andrew PCEA church to Kapsabet.

According to a journalist who had been sent to cover the function, Uhuru arrived in Kapsabet at 3.30pm, long after 9.00am.

As earlier planned, Ruto allies went full throttle in telling the President to come clear on whether he has since ‘dumped Ruto’ after winning a second term in office.

The head of state tactfully avoided the discussion telling people to ignore what the media writes.
