Two people have lost their lives while another sustained serious injuries in a grisly accident along Nairobi - Mombasa highway on Friday night.
The accident which involved a bus belonging to the Modern Coast Company and a motorbike occurred at Kibwezi town in Makueni County.
Confirming the incident, Kibwezi assistant county commissioner Vitalis Ogur said the bus hit the motorcycle which had three people on board.
He said the two lost their lives on the spot.
"The Kibwezi accident where a bus knocked down a motorbike claimed two lives of the people in the motorcycle where the other one sustained serious injuries," Ogur said.
Ogur said no passenger got injured in the bus that was headed to Mombasa from Malaba during the incident.
The administrator said the injured motorcycle occupant was rushed to Kibwezi Amref Hospital for treatment.
The bus was towed to Kibwezi police station and the occupants given on another vehicle to continue with their journey.
Ogur urged road users to be vigilant and adhere to traffic rules in a bid to avert accidents.
"Motorists and other road users should be conscious of other road users and follow traffic rules because many accidents witnessed are avoidable," Ogur said.
