Before late 2014, Homabay Senator Moses Otieno Kajwang was a totally an unknown figure in the Luo Nyanza political arena.

Kajwang came into the limelight in early 2015, when he was elected the second Homabay County Senator to replace his elder brother, the late Gerald Otieno Kajwang, famous for the Mapambano political rider.

Vying on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party, Moses Kajwang easily won the seat during the by-election held on February 12 2015. Before joining politics, Kajwang was a ‘normal guy’ putting food on the table through working very hard in the Insurance sector.

Between 2003 and 2006, he was a systems administrator at UAP Insurance Kenya, before joing UAP Uganda as a manager, information technology and quality assurance up to 2011.

Between 2011 and 2012, he was the project manager, Customer relations at the UAP Holding before joining DHL Supply as a leader, information and technology. He was also the general manager, information technology at ICEA Lion between 2013 and 2014, before eventually joining politics.

Senator Kajwang went to Lenana Secondary School, Moi University and Makerere University for high school and university education respectively between 1996 and 2006. He studied Information Technology. 

Currently, Moses Otieno Kajwang is the Chairman Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in the Senate.

He is one of the most vocal opposition senators.
