Few days to 2017 elections, Msando's mutilated body was discovered in Kikuyu, irking political tension in the country given the indispensable role he was to play in ICT department during the elections.

And Akombe, who has since resigned, recognised Mr. Msando as her hero, adding that she wishes his children to sail throw in life.

"Chris Msando, you will forever be my #MashujaaDay hero for standing for the truth and integrity and sadly paying the ultimate price in the most brutal and horrific manner.

"May your kids grow up with the knowledge of your service to your country," she said.

Ms. Akombe took the country by storm after resigning from the lucrative duty, a rare action within the country, winning many hearts from both her Nyamira backyard and across the country.

In fact, her October 2017 actions precipitated a spirited campaign to have her contest for Nyamira gubernatorial seat, even though she has never spoken about it.

Born in West Mugirango constituency, Ms. Akombe went through prestigious Nyabururu Girls and the University of Nairobi before leaving for the US.
