It, however, remains unclear why the accounts were deactivated.

The deactivation came moments after Uhuru warned corrupt officials in his government. In a tweet, the president said that he is ready to fight anyone accused of corruption including his closest allies.

“If you are corrupt we will fight you. You can be my brother or my sister or my closest political ally but if you are corrupt we will fight you. I won't be clouded by ethnicity or status in my quest to leave behind a united nation and I will continue championing for Kenya's unity,” he said through his official Twitter account.

Moments later, the account was closed down. The deactivation has already started eliciting mixed reaction from different factions.

The Head of State, who is completing his second and final term in office, has been vigilant on the fight against corruption.

Deputy President William Ruto’s allies, however, feel that the President is targeting him in the war against the vice.

During his tour in Namibia, Uhuru promised not to relent in the war against leaders accused of looting public resources.

He has said he will not spare anyone as he seeks to leave behind a legacy.
