The two leaders had earlier attended the funeral service of Bruce Odhiambo, the former Youth Enterprise Fund CEO at Koru in Kisumu County.

After the funeral, Raila left in his chopper to Kisumu International Airport with President Uhuru Kenyatta preferring his motorcade which arrived at the airport around 5pm on Saturday.

After greeting few dignitaries, a source said, Uhuru moved aside where he briefly talked to Raila. With guards expecting him to take off, the president, accompanied by one security guard, drove off with Raila and Kisumu Deputy Governor Mathews Owili.

"Yesterday President Kenyatta shocked his aides when he delayed his return back to Nairobi for nearly 4hrs and spent time in undisclosed location in Kisumu.

"President arrived at the Airport at around 5Pm ready to take off to Nairobi but changed his mind and left accompanied by Raila Odinga, with only one Security officer he left his Aide-De-Camp at the airport. The President later left Kisumu at 2103pm," said the source from Capitol Hill.

The three drove off in the official presidential limousine and maneuvered through the traffic, at times remaining patient since traffic officers had left the streets of Kisumu.

It's believed that the two moved to Royal Swiss Hotel that is owned by Odinga family where they discussed various issues until around 8:30pm. Mr Odinga had reportedly convened a secret meeting without Uhuru's knowledge.

In 2015, former US president Barack Obama also shocked many when he allowed his sister, Auma Obama, to drive in a presidential limousine commonly called The Beast.
