A detective said the condoms are a key exhibit as the suspects go for DNA tests.

“That was key. It can build a strong case if the semen matches the DNA of any suspect,” the investigator said.

Sharon Otieno, who was seven months pregnant, was abducted on September 3 and her body found the following day in a thicket in Homa Bay.

The body was naked, stabbed eight times and two used condoms were at the scene.

Six suspects, including the father of her unborn child, Governor Okoth Obado, are in custody and will be charged with her murder.

There are reports that certain quarters wanted the university girl to procure an abortion but she refused.

Her mother, Melinda Auma, claimed Sharon had confided in her that the father of the unborn child was pressuring her to abort the baby.

Governor Obado on September 12 held a presser and distanced himself with the murder.

“I have nothing, and absolutely nothing to do with the cruel death of Sharon,” he said.
