A host of high profile guests have visited Kisumu County, since Governor Professor Anyang’ Nyong’o was elected into office in August last year.
Here are five of those who have toured Kisumu so far:
1. Lupita Nyong’o
The United States based Hollywood actress and Oscar award winner toured Kisumu in May this year, in a visit that was covered by a cloud of secrecy.
He met his father (Governor Nyong’o) for a lengthy discussion on how to improve the arts sector in the Lakeside County.
2. Barack Obama
The former United States President made a brief stopover in Kisumu in mid July. He was headed to his ancestral home of Kogelo in Siaya County, where he led the official launch of the Sauti Kuu Sports Vocational Training Facility managed by her sister Dr. Auma Obama.
He briefly met Governor Nyong’o at the Kisumu International Airport (KIA).
3. Arkady Divorkovich
Russia Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Divorkovich alongside Africa Confederation Chess President Lewis Ncube called on Governor Anyang' Nyong'o in August this year, before proceeding to Grand Royal Swiss Hotel where they officially closed the Africa Youth Chess Championship.
4. Dr. Vincent O'Neill
The Irish Ambassador to Kenya Dr. Vincent O'Neill visited Kisumu on November 06, 2018 to seek for investments opportunities in the county.
He met Deputy Governor Dr Mathew Owili and other members of the Kisumu County government.
5. Ronaldinho
Brazilian soccer legend Ronaldo de Assis Moreira, commonly known as Ronaldinho Gaúcho was in Kisumu over the weekend.
He met Kisumu Deputy Governor Mathew Owili before proceeding to the Moi Stadium. He later met Governor Nyong’o in Nairobi.
