However, there are cases where people have claimed to have seen the same, a good instance being May last year when a group of Kisumu residents claimed to have seen Jesus and his mother Mary.
The bizarre event happened in Kayila Village in Seme when a group of members of the Legio Maria sect claimed that the images of the two emerged on a huge rock dubbed ‘Kidi Achie’ (One Rock).
They claimed to have witnessed the image of Mary in a flowing gown, sitting with her feet folded and holding a baby believed to be Jesus in her arms with his head nestled under her chin.
They claimed that there was another baby seated on her right, leaning against her legs.
One of those who witnessed the abnormal happening was Pamela Atieno who lives 100 metres away and who rushed to the scene after being alerted by her children who shouted that Jesus has been spotted.
“I quickly followed the children to the rocks and upon setting my eyes on the one rock, I immediately identified the image and went down on my knees to pray,’’ she told the Standard.
Having reportedly happened on a Sunday as the believers flocked the venue for prayers, the next day saw the rather sleepy village turn into a beehive of activities as pilgrims and tourists came in numbers to witness the wonder, some of whom also confirmed the claim.
