In an interview on Radio Maisha's Bunge La Maisha Monday morning, the party Chair Miruru Waweru termed the proposed changes baseless.

He called upon the nation to instead rally behind his party's referendum push dubbed 'Punguza mzigo, which seeks to reduce elective seats.

"What we are proposing has Kenyans at heart and is aimed at making life easier for them. Let Kenyans support us in this," said Waweru.

He termed the other bid led by opposition leader Raila Odinga a plan to allocate powerful positions for a few individuals.

According to Waweru, this will actually heap a bigger burden on Kenyans' shoulders.

He urged Kenyans to give it a wide berth, noting that it has no immediate importance and can wait for the next twenty years as Kenyans analyze its benefits.

"The other referendum being publicized in rallies has nothing to do with Kenyans bit is aimed at benefitting a few individuals. It can wait for even twenty years," he said.

While the former presidential aspirant Ekuru Aukot-led party's referendum seek to ease the burden on Kenyans, Raila's seeks to introduce additional seats.

Raila's quarters has proposed the introduction of among others, the Prime Ministerial slot to promote inclusion.
