In an interview on Citizen TV, Tuesday, Duale said that the handshake between President Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Amolo Odinga has transformed the nation in different ways.

He noted that BBI is part of the results of the handshake, adding that he supports the union between the two leaders before 2022.

"I support the Handshake. I support the BBI on the basis that it was a project started by my President and party leader," Duale said.

The Garissa Township MP who has been vocal on matters of national interest, also said that he wants the referendum conducted before Uhuru completes his final term in power.

He called for an inclusive referendum that will take into account the needs of the general population. The lawmaker said that an all-inclusive referendum will give Kenyans more reasons to back it at the end of the day.

"I want a referendum to happen before 2022 based on the 'Handshake' that is the element of inclusivity, and reduction of divisive politics that take us to post-election violence after every 5 years," Duale noted.
