Maanzo said the laws must be adhered to, to ensure the safety of all road users.

Speaking in Makueni Town on Monday, the Wiper lawmaker asked PSV owners and commuters to follow the law.

He said enforcement of the traffic laws is timely and will help curb accidents this festive season.

“PSV owners and commuters should strictly adhere to the traffic regulations to avoid falling in the wrong hands of the law,” Maanzo said.

Maanzo urged the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) and other agencies involved in the operation to strictly enforce the laws.

He said the number of accidents being recorded is alarming and needs serious intervention.

Maanzo, however, urged PSV owners to stop hiking bus fare.

He said hiking bus fare is hurting common Kenyans who depend on PSVs to do their daily errands.

The enforcement of ‘Michuki’ laws started on Monday across the country.

According to the Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Fred Matiang’i, the operations will not be stopped soon.

The CS says owners of PSVs who are not ready to follow the rules should keep their vehicles off the road.

Commuters who flout traffic laws have also been put on notice.
