Speaking during the launch, Family Bank Chief Operations Officer Godfrey Kamau said the facility will enable pupils living with autism to access specialised learning in a conducive environment.

"The autism center costed us Sh1.5 million. The funds were gotten from the proceeds of the annual Family Group Eldoret Half Marathon, where we made a commitment that the race will not only nurture talents, but also help pupils with autism," he said.

Following the launch, Sosiani primary becomes the only school in the Rift Valley region that offers a special needs education program for autistic pupils.

"Our aim is to equip and promote inclusive education not only in Uasin Gishu, but across the country,"Kamau added.

The bank also facilitated the purchase of specialised learning materials, books, installation of a water storage facility, and fitting the classrooms with indoor washroom facilities for the pupils’ comfort.

The school headteacher Nicholas Kosgei urged parents not to hide pupils with autism.

Family Bank Group Foundation Manager Jacqueline Mathaga applauded the Ministry of Education for posting four special education teachers to the facility.

She further said they are also focused on ensuring the integration of special needs pupils to the ordinary curriculum classes.
