The match comes days before the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. 

Harambee Stars coach Sebastien Migne has remained confident that the team will perform better during the competition despite winger Ayub Timbe suffering an injury. Timbe was forced to come off the pitch to pave way for AFC Leopards winger Paul Were. 

Michael Olunga, who players of Kashiwa Reysol, netted a tantalizing goal after an assist from Timbe. 

West Ham United's wing-back Arthur Masuaku’s strike found Matasi unawares thereby ending their fight to win the match despite having shown exemplary performance during the competition. 

In the first half, Matasi saved a penalty spot kick from Cédric Bakambu. 

Harambee Stars, placed in Group C of the AfCon competition had defeated Madagascar 1-0 after Tottenham’s Victor Wanyama scored from the penalty spot.

Other teams in the same pool are Algeria, Tanzania and Senegal. 

Migne has assured Kenyans that the team is well-prepared for the competition.
