The Jubilee governor claims that the security officials have failed to guarantee locals security.

According to the governor, tension is escalating in some parts of the county yet nothing is being done by security agencies.

Speaking to journalists in Marsabit Town on Sunday, the governor who was last week quizzed over the deadly ethnic clashes alleged that top security officials are sleeping on their jobs.

“The government should transfer Marsabit top county officials led by the county commissioner and guarantee the safety of residents,” he said.

Governor Ali denied claims that the clashes reported in some areas are politically instigated as being speculated.

He, however, urged locals to remain calm and peaceful as the government moves to quell the situation.

On Monday, two MPs Chachu Ganya (North Horr) and Ali Rasso (Saku) were arrested by detectives of the alleged clashes.

The MPs are allegedly accused of inciting the recent clan fights which have left 14 people dead.

Last week, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i issued a stern warning to politicians fueling ethnic clashes, saying the government will not spare them.
