Harambee Stars striker Michael Ogada Olunga has indicated that he is looking forward to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after the draw was conducted in Egypt on Friday night.

This year’s edition will be held in Egypt, between June and July. The participating teams have been raised from the previous 16 to 24.

Turning to his social media pages after the draw, Olunga who features for Japanese side Kashiwa Reysol said that Harambee Stars has to compete with the best in order to be the best.

“To be the best, you have to compete with the best. Looking forward to the challenge ahead,” said Michael Olunga.

According to the draw, the national soccer team is in group C alongside Senegal, Algeria and neighbours Tanzania.

Group A has hosts Egypt, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Uganda and Zimbabwe, while group B brings together Nigeria, Guinea, Madagascar and Burundi.

Group D: Morocco, Ivory Coast, South Africa, Namibia

Group E: Tunisia, Mali, Mauritania, Angola

Group F: Cameroon, Ghana, Benin and Guinea Bissau

Hosts Egypt will start the campaign against Zimbabwe on Friday, June 21, 2019.

Algeria, Egypt, DRC, Nigeria, Morocco, Ivory Coast, South Africa, Tunisia, Cameroon and Ghana are former Champions, while Madagascar, Mauritania and Burundi will be participating in the first ever edition of the AFCON.

Harambee Stars will be participating in AFCON for the 6th time this year.
