Uhuru rebuked a section of Jubilee members who are questioning his union with opposition boss Raila Odinga, noting that their closeness is solely for the good of the nation and not personal reasons.

Weighing in on the remarks on Friday, Murathe who has since declared war on the DP and his 2022 presidential ambition said that Uhuru was demonstrating that he is not happy with his deputy.

He observed that Uhuru was putting it out that no amount of condemnation and manipulation will pull him out of his truce with Raila.

"He was basically telling them he is firmly behind the handshake and nothing will dissuade him. The President was directly responding to them, that the deal will remain whether they like or not,” he told the Standard.

Uhuru went ahead to note that contrary to what others are saying that he is working with Raila's Orange Democratic Movement, he is only working with Raila as a fellow leader.

"When it comes to infrastructure, what do we need to do? And we discuss and we support each other and agree. When it comes to health, this is what we need to do. What is this issue of digitising our records and what is it all about? We sit, we discuss, and we agree,” said Uhuru.

Murathe has repeatedly vowed to prevent the DP from ascending to the top seat come 2022.
