On Thursday in State House, the former journalist met President Uhuru Kenyatta where they discussed a host of issues among them the current stalemate in his county.

According to State House, the two leaders also discussed the Building Bridges Initiative, Big Four agenda and the fight against corruption.

"President Uhuru Kenyatta this afternoon met Governor @Sambojagranton of Taita Taveta County. They discussed issues touching on both national and Taita Taveta County development programmes including the Big 4 Agenda, Building Bridges Initiative and the fight against corruption," State House said.

Governor Samboja is accusing MCAs of allocating themselves Sh41 million contrary to the law, amounting to Sh800 million for the 20 wards.

“I appeal to the aggrieved parties to reach a consensus. If no solution is reached then there is no other option, but to dissolve the county government and go back for fresh elections. This should serve as an example to the rest of the counties with similar problems," Raila said.

“The county legislature has been abusing their role of oversight and take over the process of budgeting, this happens every year. When budgets come, the MCAs push for Constituency Ward Development Fund which they want to control,” Raila said.

ODM party Chief Whip Abraham Juma confirmed that Kipchumba Murkomen had invited MCAs for a meeting with DP William Ruto on Friday.

The Kasigau Ward Rep noted that MCAs felt that the Opposition leaders had abandoned them by only meeting the governor.

“The NASA principals have taken sides on the budget standoff by only meeting the Executive. They (Raila and Kalonzo) should have also met us to get our view so as to make an informed decision on the matter,” said the MCA
