The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji has since approved the arrest and prosecution of Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu over corruption charges.

Emerging details indicate that the latter is now living on borrowed time and is facing an imminent arrest alongside his wife and their daughter over possible involvement in graft.

Waititu, his wife Susan Wangari Ndungu and daughter Monica Njeri have been implicated in a fraudulent Sh588 million dealings and acquisition of Sh221 million public property.

Haji has also approved the arrest of county chief officer of roads Lucas Waihinya and seven other chief officers in Waititu's leadership, among them members of the tender board.

Also in the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) radar are some county businessmen.

Charges awaiting the group include engagement in fraudulent procurement, money laundering and failure to comply with the law.

The EACC is also after Bienvenue Delta Hotel Limited Run by the Waititus and the Testimony Enterprises Limited director Charles Mbuthia and his wife Beth Wangechi after the company was awarded a road tender.

The governor has been under probe for three months and was earlier arrested over similar allegations and later released.
