A section of Jubilee party legislators allied to Deputy President William Ruto have welcomed former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama's suggestion to bring Wiper Party Leader Stephen Kalonzo on board.
Led by Keiyo South legislator Daniel Rono, the leaders said Kalonzo and Ruto can form a formidable team to rise to power in 2022.
Rono hailed Muthama as a wise man who can see where the future is headed, adding that Kalonzo will be a big win for the second in command as he seeks to rise to power in 2022.
“We welcome Muthama. He is a wise man and can see far politically. He has stood with Kalonzo for long and where he goes, Kalonzo will be there,” Rono said in an interview with Standard.
“We are certain that his friendship will be genuine as we see Kalonzo partnering with Ruto,” he added.
Soy MP Caleb Kositany reiterated Rono's remarks, adding that the DP's camp is ready to work with like-minded persons, for the sake of the development in Kenya.
Kalonzo has, however, distanced himself from the DP's camp.
"In the light of recent conversations and speculations about working with the DP, please note that these speculations are malicious.They are a desperate attempt to drive a wedge between me and HE the President and have failed.Remarks by individuals should not be attributed to me,' Kalonzo tweeted.
