South Mugirango Member of Parliament Sylvanus Osoro has dismissed claims that Dagoretti North Member of Parliament Simba Arati is the Gusii community spokesman.
Speaking during an interview on Egesa FM on Tuesday morning, Osoro claimed that Arati declared himself the spokesman.
"Arati came to Kisii accompanied by two elders and declared himself a spokesman. I want to reiterate that MP Arati is not the spokesman for the Gusii community. Let the community know the truth that there is no one speaking on behalf of the community," said Osoro.
Osoro opined that Arati imposed himself on the Gusii people, adding that he is just a spokesman for the people of Dagoretti North.
He further argued that Arati does not know all corners of the Gusii region, thus doesn't qualify to be the Gusii community spokesman.
"Arati declared himself a spokesman and went into hiding in Nairobi. We can't have a spokesman who does not know the history of the community's politics," he stated.
In a quick rejoinder, Arati dismissed Osoro's sentiments saying he (Osoro) should also look for elders to install him a spokesman.
"Being a spokesman does not mean I should talk about everything. I'm the official spokesman of the Gusii community and I urge MP Osoro to accept it," said Arati.
