The much-awaited report on the findings of the probe committee on education will be released next week, a county official has revealed.
Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua formed the committee early this year after a dismal performance was registered in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education examination.
The Nakuru County chief officer for education, Joseph Tonui, has confirmed that the report will be released on July 25. The function will be held outside the governor’s office.
Shiners Schools proprietor Anil Walia and former district commissioner John Abduba were late January this year appointed to head the 20-people task force.
The taskforce was expected to interrogate the poor show and propose ways to improve it. The report is being released in the wake of questions regarding why it has been delayed yet the team had been given only 45 days to complete its task.
A section of civil society activists raised questions regarding the inordinate delay and asked whether the members are being paid allowances for the extra four months.
Early this month, the activists threatened to go to court in order to compel the Nakuru County government to reveal what was happening regarding the probe.
The taskforce was expected to tour various parts of the county to collect public views and physically assess the situation on the ground as well as interrogate the poor show and propose ways to improve it.
