On Friday, CEO Nancy Macharia released a preliminary report indicating that the teacher attempted to assist the pupil, Jackline Chep’ngeno before she took away her life.

The accounts of the teachers at Kabiangek Primary School show that the accused, Jennifer Chemutai, asked the student to accompany her to the office so that she could give her sanitary pads.

The teacher, who has since been suspended, reportedly asked the student to go home and change so that she could report back to school but she never returned.

The commission highlights that the teacher never mocked the student as reported earlier on. The teacher never saw the student until she received the news that she was no more.

“While the teacher headed towards the office to source for the sanitary towels, Jackline walked towards the gate and went home straight. When the teacher finished the inquiry on the whereabouts of the towels, she spotted Jackline walking towards the gate. Her attempts to call her back didn’t bear any fruit,” TSC said in the letter, as quoted by Capital FM.

The report also showed that the deceased's mother also asked the student to change and put on the pads so that she could return to school only for her to pick a bucket and then head to the river.

It was not until 2 pm when the family learned that she had taken way her life. It was also noted that the mother and the grandmother are both alcohol addicts hence who let her undertake all chores at home.

The investigators also noted that the deceased’s sister had just been discharged from hospital at the time they arrived at the home to conduct the probe.
