More than 18 matches have so far been played in the on-going 21st edition of the FIFA World Cup in Russia.

The matches have produced more than 48 goals, with hosts Russia being the team with the most scored goals so far.

The Russians have scored 8 goals in two group A matches; five against Saudi Arabia and three against Egypt while conceding one goal.

Russia thrashed Saudi Arabia 1-0 and beat Egypt 3-1 to qualify for the second round of the tournament.

But who are the top scorers in the tournament so far?   

1. Christiano Ronaldo – The Portuguese Captain currently leads the top scorer’s chart with four goals in two matches. The four goals resulted from 10 shots against opponents’ goal. He scored three goals against 2010 World Champions Spain and one goal against African representatives Morocco.

2. Denis Cheryshev – The Russian midfielder has scored three goals to help his team top group A. he scored two against Saudi Arabia and one against African representatives Egypt.

3. Artem Dzyuba (Russia), Diego Costa (Spain), Romelu Lukaku (Belgium), Harry Kane (England). The four strikers have scored two goals apiece. Dzyuba scored one against Saudi Arabia and another one against Egypt.

Costa scored two goals against Portugal, Lukakau scored against Panama while Kane scored against Tunisia.

More than 20 players have scored one goal each. Argentina superstar Lionel Messi and his Brazilian counterpart Neymar are yet to put the ball behind the net.
