Speaking to members of the press on Friday, the former director of public prosecutions said that the forest was very important and efforts to purge it of settlers would continue.

"The Maasai Mau must be restored and it is not negotiable and it is either now or never. And it is not a choice that we cannot make. The importance of Mau is too obvious not just for the county the region, the present generation but future generations," a tough-talking Tobiko said.

CS Tobiko called on politicians not to politicise the impending eviction of people living in the forest widely regarded as an important water catchment area.

Mau Forest evictions have been politically divisive with politicians taking different positions on how they should be done.

The cabinet secretary addressed the media after being holed up in  a closed door 3-hour meeting with security officials in Narok.

It was held at the office of the County Commissioner of Narok.

A number of people living in the forest had claimed that they had genuine title deeds but the CS has maintained that their will be no compensation as the titles are not genuine.
