Mr Cheruiyot, a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto, said Ms Dena had overstepped her mandate by commenting on matters Jubilee party.

On Tuesday, Ms Dena defended Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju, who also doubles as Cabinet Secretary without portfolio, following his recent launch of projects in Rarieda.

“The meeting in Rarieda was a government function and Mr Tuju was there in his capacity as the presidential representative,” said Ms Dena.

She went on: “The Cabinet Secretary had an official speech of the President and, therefore, it was not a private function but a development event by the government.”

Dr Ruto's supporters have been accusing Tuju of allegedly working with opposition leader Raila Odinga to scuttle the ruling party from within.

And in a tweet, Mr Cheruiyot, who is serving his second term, asked Dena to seek counsel from people well versed with her current roles in State House.

"But @KanzeDena has serious competency lapses in her role as @StateHouseKenya spokesperson. Somebody advice her to keep off commenting on @JubileePartyK issues. Her understanding therein is that of a nun on mosque issues," he said.

In a tweet on Sunday, Dr Ruto criticised Tuju after a local publication linked him to Raila's team of advisors. Mr Tuju has however insisted that he's serving the president.

“So our democracy is so liberal that the SG of a ruling party has become the chief strategist of the opposition!! Maajabu (wonders),” the DP wrote.
