The first time legislator was on Tuesday arrested in Eldoret and questioned in Kisumu over what detectives was was incitement targeting Dr Ruto's opponents.

And on Friday, Dr Ruto, who Senator Cherargei was defending in the viral clip, will be touring the expansive Nandi County, his second tour in as many weeks.

The Deputy President, who is keen to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta, will tour Emgwen and Chesumei constituencies for a host of functions.

"Karibu Nandi Your Excellency Dr William Ruto," tweeted Senator Cherargei, who has also been at loggerheads with Governor Stephen Sang.

Critics of Deputy President William Ruto have in the past questioned his habit of going silent whenever his allies are cornered in the wrong side of the law.

In the viral clip, Cherargei had warned Ruto's critics of unspecified consequences, should the DP take over from Uhuru in the much anticipated 2022 polls.

“Those who are fighting the Deputy President, we (sic) are profiling you ... if you fight [the] DP you’re fighting us. Don’t think he doesn’t have supporters,” Cherargei told mourners.

He added, “as his supporters if you continue fighting the DP we are marking you and profiling you. When the time comes we will deal with you. Even the DP has supporters and should be respected.”
