Flamboyant city lawyer Donald Kipkorir has celebrated Moi Day with a message praising the former President Daniel Arap Moi.
In a tweet on Thursday, the controversial lawyer said: ''On this beautiful #MoiDay , I remember with nostalgia my President, President Daniel Arap Moi."
"Some may want to remember the negatives but I choose to remember his positives knowing we all are human & we all have our foibles ... Unlike many of his age, Moi handed over power,'' said Donald Kipkorir.
Moi Day had been scrapped off among the list of public holidays in the country following the institution of the new Constitution in 2010.
However, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i reinstated it.
“In line with the provisions of the Public Holidays Act (Cap 110, Laws of Kenya) and the decision of the court in Judicial Review No. 292 of 2017 (Republic v Cabinet Secretary for Internal Security Ex Parte G O Nyauchi & 4 Others) it is hereby confirmed that 10th October 2019 will be a public holiday,'' said Matiang'i in a statement on Wednesday as quoted by Citizen Digital.
Many people will remember Moi with the famous drink ‘Maziwa ya Nyanyo.’
Others will remember the former president for his stern way of dealing with those who criticized his way of leading.
