Speaking during a Baraza on Monday, Mr Kijabe argued that, many governors are doing a tremendous job and should not be stopped from running for the gubernatorial race again due to exhausting their term limit.

The Ward Representative argued that it is not fair for the county bosses to have a term limit of 10 years while the Members of Parliament (MP) and MCAs are free to run for the office as many times as they want.

“I call on the governors to use their positions to seek constitutional changes to remove term limits. Many of them are good people and work for the electorate but their work is curtailed by the law,” said Mr Kijabe as quoted by Daily nation

The Ward Rep spoke in presence of Narok County Governor Samuel ole Tunai, where he urged him (ole Tunai) to recruit other governors while he’s still in power to seek a change of constitution through the BBI.

Now, that the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) is the talk countrywide, the MCA wants getting rid of Governors’ term limit to be part of BBI discussion.

As per the constitution, both the governor with his deputy are limited to serve for only two terms.

Article 180 (7) prohibits any Governor and his or her deputy that have served for two-term from exceeding.
