Police on Wednesday evening nabbed 14 betting machines in Tala town, Matungulu sub-county of Machakos county.

Tala location chief Pius Nzioka confirmed the incident. Nzioka said that the owners of the machines escaped evading arrest.

He observed that despite the betting machines being banned by the government there are places in Tala where they can be found.

"The business was done secretly but after some reports we were able to know the location of the shops, however, the owners escape," said Nzio ka.

He said that the machines which were nabbed are kept at Tala police station.

He said that police have launched a manhunt for the suspects who escaped. 

On Wednesday Matungulu sub-county county police commander Joel Kipkemoi Kirui told the press that among other crimes cropping up in the sub-county were the betting games played in secret.

He said that is officers were doing all they can to ensure the business ends completely.
