Speaking on Thursday, the commentator said that the house has already demonstrated its inability to address such serious matters, which makes such calls questionable.

He said that the house has indicated that some of its members lack integrity and can be easily bought to follow a specific direction, which makes it the wrong place for the job.

He also questioned the ability of some members like Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, in an apparent reference to Sudi's alleged illiteracy, to read, understand and translate the report.

"Let's measure the quality of our parliamentarians; We have toilet parliamentarians who receive money in envelopes, Make reports whose quality I could write when I was in class 7 half-sleep, We have people like Oscar Sudi who should translate this document, surely?" he posed.

The debate on whether to implement the recommendations through parliament or a referendum had been heating up since the release of the report on Wednesday last week.

It has since divided the political class down the middle, with forces allied to Deputy President William Ruto leading the anti-referendum brigade while the pro-referendum faction allied to Raila Odinga says otherwise.
