The company which majors in sports betting and gambling has since had its payment services withdrawn and paybill numbers cancelled on the government's orders.

But according to its Chief Executive Officer Ronald Karauri, the company which sponsors a number of teams in the country will continue with the same.

"I will continue supporting," he is quoted by the Standard's Game Yetu as having told a local website, while confirming that the current deals will stand despite his company's woes.

Among the teams sponsored by the company are Kenya Premier League champions Gor Mahia and their rivals AFC Leopards to a tune of Sh120 million yearly.

Also in the list is Kariobangi Sharks, with the Leopards' leadership admitting that the party will be stranded in the instance that Sportpesa drops its sponsorship.

"The sponsorship from SportPesa accounts for 80-per cent of our budget so we cannot do without it. Our hope is the government and SportPesa will agree to work together because this stalemate brings uncertainty," Leopards Secretary General Oliver Shikuku told Game Yetu on Monday.

Sportpesa is among 27 companies whose licences have also been cancelled by the government.
