The short distance races maestro was driving his V8 Toyota when one of the tyre burst leading to a collision with Ena Coach bus that was headed to Nairobi.

Mr Rudisha sustained minor injuries and is currently recuperating at Kilgoris District Hospital. He's is in a stable condition.

Mr Stephen Ole Marai, Rudisha's friend and neighbour, said the athlete is out of danger and was treated at a hospital in Keroka and later moved to Kilgoris Sub-County Hospital

"Rudisha is okay, but he is nursing minor injuries. We are leaving Kilgoris to Keroka Police Station now where he is coming to meet the police," said Ole Marai.

The celebrated athlete is expected to record a statement over the accident, which took place at the infamous black spot along the highway.

His accident comes barely a week after the death  former Olympic 4*400 meters champion Robert Ouko, who comes from the greater Gusii region.

Also last Sunday, another VIP, Bernard Shinali, the MP for Ikolomani, was involved an accident near Kapsabet along Mau escarpment.

Rudisha is one of celebrated disciplined athlete who is rarely involved in embarrassing disciplinary issues unlike a number of his compatriots.
