Speaking during his visit in Raduodi in his Ugunja constituency where Water PS Joseph Irungu launched projects, Wandayi appealed to his colleagues to back the enactment of new laws aimed at curbing cases of corruption in different government dockets.

He said that billions of public funds cannot be accounted for yet a few individuals have pocketed them.

He also said that government officials accused of graft should be stepping aside to pave room for probe before they can resume work.

Wandayi, also Public Accounts Committee chairman, questioned why some governors are yet to quit yet they have been accused of graft.

He further said Judge Mumbi Ngugi had directed county bosses and other officials accused of graft to step aside but that has not happened so far.

"We do not have to wait for the Court of Appeal to interpret these grey areas, as the Assembly we can legislate on them," he said, as quoted by Standard.

Nyando Jared Okello also echoed the remarks of the lawmaker saying the corrupt must be prepared to step aside to allow the investigative agencies perform their duties without fear or favour.
