While scores were impressed by the feat which was pulled off in Vienna, Austria, Miguna was not.

Writing on Twitter on Monday, the lawyer appeared to pour scorn on the world record-breaking marathoner as he hit out at Kenyans for being excited by his feat.

According to Miguna, who was deported last year after a stand-off with immigration authorities, Kenyans should be celebrating what he described as achievements of the brain and not runners.

He said that wars are no longer won by runners.

"In 2019, as the world celebrates NOBEL PRIZE winners in Physics, Economics, Medicine, Literature, Peace and other ACHIEVEMENTS of the HUMAN BRAIN, CREATIVITY and INDUSTRY, Kenyans are ululating over RUNNERS. Hunters and gatherers are obsolete. Wars are no longer won by runners, " Miguna's tweet read.

A section of social media users disparaged Miguna's tweet as the tantrums of a bitter person.

Kenyans have been celebrating Eliud Kipchoge for running a marathon under two hours, a feat that cynics said was impossible in this century.
