However, this was changed on Friday after Nigeria's Super Eagles secured a brilliant win against Iceland in their second match of the group stage.

Ahmed Musa was the star of the show after he scored his first goal in the 49th minutes after a swift counter-attack. He doubled the score on the 75th minutes with a brilliant close-range shot, after skipping past two defenders and rounding the goalkeeper.

Did you know that Musa did set three Nigerian World Cup records in one day, in one match? Well, he becomes the only Nigerian player to score a brace in a World Cup game.

He also becomes the only Nigerian player to score in two different World Cups, in 2014 and in 2018. More so, he becomes the top scorer for Nigeria in the history of World Cup, with four goals. He broke the record he jointly held with Daniel Amokachi, Kalu Uche and Emmanuel Amunike.

The win moved the Super Eagles into the second position of their Group D. They arep placed second with three (3) points, behind Croatia who sit first with six (6) points.

Argentina and Iceland jointly hold the third (3rd) position with a point each after two matches.
