The two united towards 2017 polls, with Kibwana's Muungano getting into a coalition with Wiper. Prof Kibwana was installed the chairman of the Wiper party.

Recently, the party kicked out Kibwana, arguing that he no longer holds philosophy of the party which was initially ODM Kenya party before rebranding.

In a meeting held recently, Kalonzo is said to have accused Kibwans of using his position in Wiper to field his allies in MCA contests, thus making it difficult for them to toe to the line.

“We allowed him to have a say on the candidates Wiper fielded, but we regret it,” Mr Musyoka said while declaring the end of his relationship with Prof Kibwana two months ago.

The Wiper leader is also said to have cautioned Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo from associating with the governor, who was replaced by Chirau Ali.

Recently, Kibwana hailed MCAs for synergy with executive, arguing that they all deserve a re-election in 2022 polls. They are all loyal to him.

“The current crop of ward representatives has done a good job and should be re-elected,” Prof Kibwana said during a funds drive in aid of the African Inland Church in Wote last week.

“In carrying out its oversight role, the Assembly recently recommended the dismissal of incompetent executives. Ward representatives have enabled the devolved government to utilise public funds well,” he said.

Kalonzo also suffered a blow over the weekend when former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama insisted that Raila Odinga is still the man to beat.
