On Thursday, an anti-corruption court dismissed the application by 12 Ward Reps who sought to be part of the suit against the embattled county boss.

While delivering his ruling, Milimani Chief Magistrate Lawrence Mugambi said the application lacked merit.

"The averment that the MCAs want to watch over the interests of the majority of Kiambu residents does not hold water," Mugambi said as quoted by Nation.

In their application, the MCAs argued that they needed to be enjoined in the case so as to represent the interests of Kiambu people.

However, the magistrate noted that the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission and the Director of Public Prosecutions have already been enjoined in the case to represent the interest of Kiambu people.

Governor Waititu and his wife Susan Waititu are in court over allegations of irregularly issuing a tender worth Sh588 million.

The two denied the charged and were released on bond awaiting hearing and determination of the case.
