Kenya has not been included in the draw for the FIFA World Cup 2022 Qatar African Qualifiers preliminary round which was released on Monday by world football governing body, FIFA.

This is because Harambee Stars among the top-ranked countries basing on the July’s edition of the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking. 

Stars will feature in the second qualifying round after 14 teams have been selected from the first round. 

The first round will feature 28 lowest-ranked teams. The teams were paired to play home and away in a draw. Winners after the home and away matches will join the 26 top-ranked teams in which Kenya is among them. 

Another draw will be done where 10 groups will be made consisting of 4 teams. 

After the second qualification, only top teams from each group will advance to the next level. They will be paired against the others in a home and away knock-out fixture. 

The five winners will proceed directly to the FIFA World Cup Qatar that will be held 2022, where they will meet with other countries from across the world.
