Rudisha, who has been missing from the athletics scene for a long time, said that he is fine.

A few months ago, Rudisha's wife made headlines after she claimed that the athlete was frustrating her and the kids.

“David Lekuta Rudisha stop frustrating me with my kids.  To my family, my heart is heavy I can’t hold anymore. I love u all,” her message read in part.

The 800m world record holder who has been silent on the claims made his first public appearance on Thursday during the reopening of the dusitD2 hotel in Nairobi.

The athlete later took to social media where he retweeted a tweet by the hotel.

“@rudishadavid arrives at the hotel He will proceed to @standrewschurch where he will lead the team for the 'Last Mile' run to the hotel. #d2reopening #weareback #d2nairobiflagtour,” read the tweet he retweeted.

When contacted over the whereabouts of the athlete, Rudisha's agent Mitchel Boeting refused to comment on the matter.

He said that he has no authority to comment on the matters affecting the family at his level. He, however, noted that his client may not compete this season due to an injury.

"David might not compete this season. The injury healed and reoccurred. He will be late for the season and I think he will be back next season. We expect that all will be well for him,” said Boeting.
