Political commentator Mark Bichachi has faulted a section of members of parliament rooting for a parliamentary implementation of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.

A section of lawmakers allied to Deputy President William Ruto have said that the document is better passed through the house immediately, which would be quick and cheap.

But Bichachi has termed this ridiculous, finding it weird that the group claims that the document is perfect in its current state and should be passed as it is.

"What I find even more ridiculous is how some MPs say there is nothing wrong with the BBI document," he said on K24, Thursday morning.

His remark comes at a time when another faction wants the document fine-tuned and then presented to Kenyans for their final say, through a referendum.

He suggested that some of those pushing for a parliamentary implementation do not care about what Kenyans think of them and don't fear a possible retaliation in the 2022 polls.

The communication expert termed majority as people already contented with their current term, and not interested in another term, their main interest now being handouts for their opposition.

"Many MPs are not planning to survive past 2022 because they know they will be voted out. All they want is 5 years of 'Kukula' (eating)," he said.

The side pushing for referendum is led by President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga, who want the document owned by Kenyans and not members of parliament.
