Speaking on Saturday in Nakuru county while flanked by a section of Rift Valley leaders, the legislator painted a doomsday scenario, contending that the second phase of Mau evictions would trigger a monumental catastrophe.

The DP Ruto-backing senator said that the consequences of the evictions would be so immense that the Kenyan government would not be able to cope.

He went on to add that the IDP crisis triggered by the post-election violence would pale in comparison to the implications of the Mau evictions.

"The reported evictions are going to cause a major catastrophe, a humanitarian crisis of monumental scale of international standards if over 100,000 families that are living in the Narok south, the area earmarked for the purported eviction is gonna cause a crisis that cannot be managed by anyone, not even the government, " the senator said.

His intervention comes amid tensions in Narok South ahead of the second phase of the evictions which the Environment Cabinet Secretary Keriako Tobiko has maintained must go on.

CS Tobiko met with security officials in Narok County and held a closed-door meeting with them at the county commissioner's office.

Murkomen has been at the forefront of fighting for the rights of the settlers, calling for a more reasonable approach to ridding the important water catchment area of settlers.
