In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Mutua said that the ODM boss disclosed to him the qualities he possesses which Raila admires.

"Rt Hon Raila told me that he admires my strength of purpose and firm stand and unshaken stand on issues. When I decide to support a position, I do not waver," he said.

"He was happy that during the days of the grand coalition, I stood with Kibaki 100% and later with Uhuru Kenyatta 100% and now with the two leaders," he added.

Mutua observed that the feeling is mutual since he greatly respects Raila despite the two of them being in different political parties.

The county boss further noted that he shared with Raila his interest to contest for the presidency in 2022, adding that the opposition chief advised him on the strategies to apply in order to popularise his bid across the country.

"I asked for his advice and shared with him my serious plans to run for the presidency in 2022," said Mutua.

The vocal governor said that they found out they had a lot of similarities in matters to do with the wellness of the country, adding that Raila will be visiting Machakos County on a developmental tour.

"I’m happy that HE Rt Hon Raila Odinga has agreed to my invite to visit Machakos soon on an official development tour," he added.

Mutua had visited Raila at his Capitol Hill office in Nairobi.
