Dr Ndii said that the former commissioner called out both sides of the political aisle in order to save the election.

He noted that by blowing the whistle, Roselyn Akombe did the right thing.

In a tweet on Thursday afternoon, the renowned economist appeared to wonder why witnesses at Treasury and the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) were not following the example set by Akombe.

He said that it was a shame that no whistleblower had come out to blow the lid on the rot in Treasury and CBK.

"@DrRoselynAkombe fought a good fight inside IEBC. She was calling out wrong doing by all sides trying to salvage the election. Futile. She did the right thing—blew the whistle. We have in Treasury and CBK witnesses to looting of billions, and not a single whistleblower. Shame, " Dr Ndii wrote on Twitter.

Dr Akombe left the country for the United States of America at the height of the 2017 elections, saying that the IEBC was woefully prepared for the repeat presidential elections.

She said that she had feared for her life.

In the US, the former IEBC commissioner continues to weigh in on the topical issues and calling out the Uhuru-led administration for some of the challenges the country is grappling with.
