The two leaders met during the requiem mass for the late soccer legend Joe Kadenge at Friends Church Ngong Road.

It remains unclear what the two leaders discussed when they engaged with each other for some time during the event.

ODM leader described the death of Kadenge as a big blow to the nation.

“PL @RailaOdinga, FK Leader @Wetangulam, ED @ongwen among the mourners who are attending the requiem mass for the late soccer legend Joe Kadenge at Friends Church Ngong Road. Joe has been praised as gallant son of the soil and a man who lifted high the country’s flag in sports,” ODM tweeted.

Earlier in the month, Wetangula asked Raila to return the favour by backing him as he seeks to ascend to power in 2022. He noted that the Luhya nation has backed the African Union special envoy several times, adding that it is now time for one of their own to become the Head of State.

He made the remarks when he toured Kisumu on July 2, 2019.

”Without any fear of contradiction, I will be on the ballot in 2022 and I am asking my brother Raila, my brother Kalonzo and my brother Mudavadi to let me try this horse this time," said Wetangula.

The mass comes after Raila revealed that President Uhuru Kenyatta had accepted to rename a stadium in Nairobi after the legend.
