The leader of Students Organization of the Universty (SONU) Ann Mvurya has welcomed the appointment of Zack Kinuthia as the Education Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS).
Writing on Twitter on Tuesday, the SONU leader congratulated Mr Kinuthia on his high profile appointment.
Zack Kinuthia served as the chair of SONU when he was still a student at the University of Nairobi and has continued with his firebrand activism outside the confines of the university.
Ann Mvurya assured the newly appointed CAS of the support of the student fraternity.
"I wish @ZACK_KINUTHIA former SONU Chair endless success on his new appointment as the Ministry of Education Assistant Cabinet Secretary. Just be guaranteed that you have comrades support. We are so happy for you, " Ann Mvurya wrote on her Twitter handle.
Zack Kinuthia has been a vocal critic of Deputy President Dr William Ruto and his appointment by the head of state is a testament to the clout that he wields.
He was part of the people who were invited to the Sagana State Lodge meeting in which Uhuru addressed the Mount Kenya region leaders.
The former student leader will be among the new faces in Uhuru's team.
