Speaking in Kericho on Sunday, the lawmaker stressed on the need for the country to get over the issue as fast as possible, observing that Kenyans' attention currently stands diverted.

Consequently, he wants President Uhuru Kenyatta to give the BBI taskforce a timeframe within which it should complete the public participation exercise set for early next year.

"Though the term of the task force has been extended, they must be given a strict timeline to complete their work. The country must not waste a lot of time discussing the report," he said.

The legislator was among politicians who accompanied Deputy President William Ruto for a fundraiser at the Chepngobop Methodist Church.

He (Koech) suggested that Kenyans need to concentrate on their own issues, which is impossible at the time since the BBI report appears like the major debate in the country.

He added that similarly, the full concentration of leaders on the BBI issue has taken off their attention off the factors affecting citizens, like farming and agriculture.

"This is the reason we ask the President alongside the Deputy President to hasten the implementation of the Building Bridges Initiative report,"  he added.

This comes only days after the DP and his team threw their weight behind the BBI push, after months of terming it a plot to accommodate power-hungry individuals in government.
